Great Heron, Acrylic on Wallpaper

I had a book of vinyl coated wallpaper samples and liked the texture in some of them, so I started experimenting.

The "brush strokes" in the background are in the paper.

For this painting I made a wash for the sky and then poured some colors of acrylic and blew it around a bit using a straw to create the tangles of roots at the bottom.

I then added other colors of berries and leaves.

Finally I painted the birds which got all the details.

I am happy with the results.
