Downtown Amesbury

Downtown Amesbury

Downtown Amesbury was created because I love my hometown and the town buildings have not really changed that much over the past eighty years.

I used an old vintage postcard for inspiration. My technique uses added water to my acrylic paints to give a translucent watercolor effect. I prefer using heavy 140 lb paper so that the finished product can be framed.

The planned blue sky was causing some issues with streakiness so I added clouds, which added dimension, so that was an unexpected happy accident.

Vibrant colours NEW
by: Jane (from the UK)

I love your vibrant colours Anne - the town sings on a hot sunny day! The green blinds really resonate against the red brick.

Your title made me smile as Amesbury is very close to my hometown ... but in the UK not the US ... It's a delightful rural village that is very close to Stonehenge - this link will show you "downtown" Amesbury UK style. http://www.visitwiltshire.co.uk/towns-and-villages/amesbury-p477123
